Alma is 2-8 against Elm Creek since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Alma Cardinals will look to defend their home court against the Elm Creek Buffaloes at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Alma focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 14 to 3 on the offensive boards, a fact Alma proved. They put the hurt on Kenesaw with a sharp 57-37 win. With that victory, Alma brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.
Alma can attribute much of their success to Addison Siebels, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Chayse Molzahn, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Elm Creek was the victim of a tough 49-27 loss at the hands of Southern Valley on Friday. Elm Creek has struggled against Southern Valley recently, as their match on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Elm Creek's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kendal Cavenee, who scored 9 points along with 3 steals, and Halle Knapp who scored 7 points. Cavenee scored a full 33.3% of Elm Creek's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The wins kept both teams' perfect 2-0 season records intact.
Alma didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Elm Creek when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 58-53 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Elm Creek's Lani Meier, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Alma to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
