In what's become a running theme this season, IDEA Weslaco Pike gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 57-37 margin over IDEA Sports Park. The victory was just what IDEA Weslaco Pike needed coming off of a 69-37 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Santa Rosa had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. Santa Rosa found their leader in underclassman Amber Mendoza, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Mendoza scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Navarro, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
IDEA Weslaco Pike's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Santa Rosa, they pushed their record up to 8-13 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
IDEA Weslaco Pike barely slipped by Santa Rosa in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 33-32. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Mendoza, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds.
