Minooka is 0-4 against Lincoln-Way Central since April of 2019 but things could change on Friday. Minooka will head out to take on Lincoln-Way Central at 4:30 p.m. Minooka is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Minooka easily dispatched Normal Community on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Minooka fell just short of Lincoln-Way West by a score of 10-8 on Thursday. The loss was the Indians' first of the season.
Jaelle Hamilton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Psinas, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.
Even though they lost, Minooka was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way Central had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 9-4 win over Plainfield North. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Lisabella Dimitrijevic was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Dimitrijevic was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Ellie McLaughlin was excellent, scoring four runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Ava Quinlan was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
Having lost for the first time this season, Minooka fell to 3-1. As for Lincoln-Way Central, they pushed their record up to 1-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Minooka couldn't quite get it done against Lincoln-Way Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 as they fell 4-1. Can Minooka avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
