Given Veterans Memorial's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Tivy is ranked 326th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Demarion Dennis was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gervai Maeweathers, who scored 12 points.
Boerne-Champion only won by three when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 27-point they dealt Seguin on Friday. Boerne-Champion claimed a resounding 68-41 victory over Seguin at home.
Veterans Memorial's victory bumped their record up to 26-1. As for Boerne-Champion, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.
