Collins is 5-0 against Mize since January of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Collins Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Mize Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Collins unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost to Richton on the road by a decisive 62-45 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Collins has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Logan White, who scored ten points along with two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Donte Booth, who scored 11 points along with two blocks.
Mize suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on January 9th. They were beaten by Collins 77-43. While losing is never fun, Mize can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while Collins is ranked 102nd).
Collins' loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Mize, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Collins against Mize in their previous meeting on January 9th as the squad secured a 77-43 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Collins since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
