The Bishop O'Connell Knights will take on the Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association Patriots in a tournament on Saturday. Bishop O'Connell is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 26 games dating back to last season.
On Friday, Bishop O'Connell got the win against Our Lady of Good Counsel by a conclusive 16-2. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by exactly 14 runs.
Bri Lencz and Ella Fletcher were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Lencz struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Fletcher pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in May of 2024. At bat, Lencz went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Fletcher scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most RBI Lencz has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, MJ Melvin was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Melvin is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Lissenden, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base.
Bishop O'Connell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Our Lady of Good Counsel only posted an OBP of .200.
Meanwhile, Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association never let their opponents score on Friday. Everything went their way against Christchurch School as Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association made off with a 14-0 win. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by seven runs or more this season.
Madison Machotka was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Lucia Fischi was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
