Havre de Grace extended their winning streak to five on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 14-4 in the process. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the North East Indians, sneaking past 7-5. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Lilly Dalton was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off 12 hits. Dalton was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Havre de Grace got a big performance out of Jalynn Ludd, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. Kinsey Mentzer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run.
As for North East, they moved to 8-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since March 28th.
On North East's side, Jazmyn Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. Martin has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, North East saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Victoria McGee, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Coming up, Havre de Grace will square off against Bohemia Manor at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season. As for North East, they will welcome Harford Tech at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cobras have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
