Among those leading the charge was Audrey Busch, who had 11 digs and three aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Anna Dierks, who had 11 digs and two aces.
They weren't the only good servers: West Springfield was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 26 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Charles J. Colgan faced James Madison in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Sharks had just enough and edged out the Warhawks 3-2.
Charles J. Colgan wouldn't go down easily and took James Madison into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-27, 15-8.
West Springfield's record is now 29-2. As for Charles J. Colgan, their record now sits at 28-4.
West Springfield came up short against Charles J. Colgan in their previous matchup back in September of 2018, falling 3-1. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
