HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. - After four lead changes,
Wakefield (Raleigh, N.C.) took the lead for good when
Evan Brabrand thew a touchdown to
Mike Shelton with 5:00 to go in the fourth quarter and held on to defeat
Holly Springs (N.C.) 40-28 on Saturday.
The score was knotted at 21 heading into the half. The Wolverines took the lead indefinitely on a touchdown pass by Brabrand to Shelton in the fourth quarter.
Brabrand stood out for Wakefield in the win. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns.
A 50-47 Wakefield victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
Holly Springs (0-2) goes up against Sanderson in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Wakefield (1-0) locks horns with Northern also in a non-conference game.
