North Central II/Bay Football recap Oct. 9, 2012
California School for the Deaf and Tomales played the most hotly contested game in North Central II/Bay Football this week, with California School for the Deaf eventually emerging with a 17-14 victory.
St. Vincent de Paul took down St. Elizabeth 56-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mitch Sheppard threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns and ran for seven yards in the win.
The Mustangs' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Michael Carroll chipped in 71 yards. Derek Murphy helped St. Vincent de Paul's passing attack out by catching three balls for 70 yards.
Arman Yektaparast was the best wideout in the league this week as St. Vincent de Paul beat the Mustangs. Yektaparast tallied eight receptions for 101 yards.
Gary Galloway's team's Sheppard and Yektaparast have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Sheppard has thrown for 1163 yards this season, while Yektaparast, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 27 catches for 480 yards. Anthony Feliciano from the Braves leads the league in rushing with 755 yards.
A big matchup in North Central II/Bay Football this week will be when California School for the Deaf takes on the Eagles. The Cubs are in first place, while California School for the Deaf is in first place.
Warren Keller's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,890 from 9,351. The improvement came about via a 17-14 victory over Tomales last week.
