The Western Beaver Golden Beavers will face off against the St. Joseph Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Western Beaver has six straight wins, St. Joseph has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Western Beaver's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Winchester Thurston as they made off with an 8-0 victory. The Golden Beavers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Christian Stefankis made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Western Beaver got a big performance out of Sawyer Chaffee, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. August Lichtner was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph came up short against Aquinas Academy on Tuesday, falling 11-2.
St. Joseph saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Maltese, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Maltese is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Another was Peter Stickney, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
Western Beaver pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for St. Joseph, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
St. Joseph's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Western Beaver hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. It's a different story for St. Joseph, though, as they've only averaged .201. Will they be able to contain Western Beaver's hitters?
Everything went Western Beaver's way against St. Joseph in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Western Beaver made off with a 10-3 win. Do the Golden Beavers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
