The Bonanza Bengals and the Centennial Bulldogs squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Bonanza Bengals had to settle for second. Bonanza was dealt a 39-7 loss at the hands of Centennial. Bonanza's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Bonanza lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sencere Mitchell. Despite the final result, he picked up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown. Mitchell's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards.
Vic Plotnikov was his usual excellent self, throwing for 245 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes. Plotnikov has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Angelo Ahern also helped out with an impressive 98 receiving yards.
Bonanza's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Centennial, they have yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 9-1 record.
Bonanza does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Centennial will take on Somerset Academy Losee at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Somerset Academy Losee knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully Centennial likes a good challenge.
