Welchert Came Up Big in Fort Calhoun's 20-16 Defeat
Starting off the list is Fort Calhoun's Blake Welchert, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Welchert rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown. He didn't just play on offense: he also made four total tackles and defended two passes in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.
Welchert is probably looking forward to his next game, a road matchup against Central City on Friday. Back in September of 2023 (the last time Welchert saw the Bison), he picked up 45 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 94 yards.

Kip Brigham's big game helped extend Wahoo's winning streak to nine on Friday. Concordia had no answer to Brigham as he rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Brigham's longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
If the past is any indication, Brigham could be in store for another big game when he takes on Douglas County West on Friday. Back in September (the last time Brigham saw the Falcon), he picked up 122 receiving yards and a touchdown.
