Tooele has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Murray Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Tooele focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Tooele was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 43-38 to the Colts. Tooele has not had much luck with the Colts recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, Tooele saw an underclassman step up: Kennedy Searle scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. Aleah Ashby was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Murray was able to grind out a solid victory over the Stallions on Thursday, taking the game 55-46.
Murray can attribute much of their success to Charlotte Scherbel, who scored 16 points, and Vanessa Anaafi, who scored 11 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Akur Daniel, who scored six points.
Tooele has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Murray, they pushed their record up to 10-8 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Tooele have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Murray struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Tooele ended up a good deal behind the Spartans in their previous matchup back in January, losing 61-46. Can Tooele avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
