The Redondo Union Sea Hawks will square off against the Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Redondo Union will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
If Redondo Union beats Wiseburn- Da Vinci with eight runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Redondo Union blew past El Toro 8-0 on Monday. The Sea Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by eight runs or more this season.
Redondo Union got a great performance from Bailey Murray as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Murray has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Abby Luis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Another player making a difference was Julia Tsao, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Redondo Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against King/Drew on Thursday, sneaking past 5-4. While the Wolves didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Addison Wilson and Gabriella Silva made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Wilson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Silva kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. At bat, Wilson went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Silva went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI. That home run was Wilson's first of the season.
In other batting news, Jasmine Veal was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
Redondo Union's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, their record is now 6-2.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Redondo Union has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .449. However, it's not like Wiseburn- Da Vinci struggles in that department as they've averaged .511. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
