The Desert Oasis Diamondbacks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Bishop Gorman 67-18. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Desert Oasis has scored all season.
Desert Oasis' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Baskerville, who scored five points.
Bishop Gorman found their leader in underclassman Aaliah Spaight, who scored 27 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Addysen Carr, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Desert Oasis' defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-4. As for Bishop Gorman, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Desert Oasis will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Shadow Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Shadow Ridge is ranked 27th, while Desert Oasis is ranked 42nd). Bishop Gorman will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Monsignor Scanlan at 5:30 p.m. on December 18th.
