The Neodesha Blue Streaks lost against the Humboldt Cubs back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The contest between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Neodesha falling 61-45. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Humboldt is ranked 43rd).
Humboldt got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sam Hull out in front who scored 15 points along with six assists. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Ellis, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Neodesha's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-4. As for Humboldt, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Neodesha and Sedan will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another on January 2, 2024. Humboldt will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Mary's-Colgan on January 5, 2024.
