The Wilkes Central Eagles can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. Everything went their way against West Wilkes as Wilkes Central made off with a 73-50 win. Wilkes Central pushed the score to 62-37 by the end of the third, a deficit West Wilkes cut but never quite recovered from.
It was another big night for Tyson Owens, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Hunter Wyles was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Wilkes Central's victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for West Wilkes, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.
Wilkes Central will challenge Forbush at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Wilkes, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against East Surry at 8:00 p.m. One thing working in East Surry's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
