Given La Salle Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Woonsocket is ranked 36th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Woonsocket lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Antonio Delgado, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Delgado has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jamaury Barr, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
La Salle Academy's victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Woonsocket, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
La Salle Academy will head out on the road to face off against Westerly at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Woonsocket, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Providence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Providence is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
