The Chandler Prep Titans had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They walked away with a 54-45 victory over Tempe Prep. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Chandler Prep also won the last time the pair played on January 5th.
It was another big night for Noah Ruiz, who scored 20 points along with six assists and six steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. Another player making a difference was Grant Hopper, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
When it comes to explaining why Tempe Prep lost, one person who can't be blamed is Austin Sampson. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. That was a full 42.2% of Tempe Prep's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Milner, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Chandler Prep is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Tempe Prep, they dropped their record down to 5-13 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chandler Prep will challenge Horizon Honors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Horizon Honors focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Friday. As for Tempe Prep, they will head out on the road to challenge North Phoenix Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
