The Forest Hill Falcons will head out to challenge the Martin County Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last five games Forest Hill has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Forest Hill is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Palm Beach Gardens. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted since February 28th.
Yampiel Chavez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. He has become a key player for Forest Hill: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 10-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, Kevin Blas was excellent, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Willam Brown, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Forest Hill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Martin County had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They never let the Greyhounds get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.
Ryan Baum looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zane Moody, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kamai Purce, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Forest Hill moved to 13-12 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Martin County, their record is now 17-7.
Forest Hill was able to grind out a solid victory over Martin County in their previous matchup back in March, winning 6-2. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
