The Union City Bears''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Mercyhurst Prep 48-3. Union City has struggled against Mercyhurst Prep recently, as their game on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Mercyhurst Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Paul Johnson out in front who rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and also threw for 130 yards and a touchdown on only 11 passes. Mercyhurst Prep also got help from Ja'son Ellman who showed off his sure hands for 97 receiving yards.
Union City's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Mercyhurst Prep, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Union City will be playing at home against Cambridge Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cambridge Springs is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. Mercyhurst Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
