Even though the MAST Academy Makos have not done well against the Mourning Sharks recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. MAST Academy narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Mourning 54-52. For MAST Academy, this counts as revenge for the 67-49 defeat Mourning walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2021.
Mourning's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kristopher Jean-Jacques, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Pablo Rivas, who scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds.
The victory got MAST Academy back to even at 1-1. As for Mourning, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
MAST Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Somerset Academy South Homestead at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mourning, they will head out on the road to face off against Dr. Krop at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
