NCISAA Carolina Piedmont recap October 1, 2013
Ellis Pace of Christ School ran for the longest rushing play in NCISAA Carolina Piedmont this season against Concord First Assembly Academy last week. Pace scampered for 53 yards on the play and finished with 103 on the day as his team defeated the Eagles.
SouthLake Christian Academy added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Highland Tech, 57-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for SouthLake Christian Academy.
Concord First Assembly Academy's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. JENNINGS BURCHFIELD threw for 139 yards and DJ FOSTER had 66 yards receiving. On the ground BURCHFIELD chipped in 121 yards. NOAH KLAP helped Concord First Assembly Academy's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 68 yards.
ISAAC RIVENBARK made the biggest impact on defense this week as Craig Kean's team fell to Christ School. The 6-foot-0 junior grabbed 2.0 sacks.
BURCHFIELD was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 121 yards on 24 carries as the Eagles fell to Mark Moroz's team. Teammate JAKE SHELL added to the ground attack by rushing for 114 yards.
6-foot-4 quarterback Bruce Dixon of Hickory Grove Christian is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,118. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is FOSTER. The Concord First Assembly Academy star has 22 catches for 382 yards.
One of NCISAA Carolina Piedmont's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Lions and Concord First Assembly Academy face off next week.
Next week's game between Hickory Grove Christian and the Eagles will feature a good passing match up as Dixon will test his arm against KLAP's defensive ability.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Jamie Craft's team takes on Concord First Assembly Academy. The Lions are currently in third, while the Eagles are in fifth.
The league will see a high scoring game when Hickory Grove Christian and Concord First Assembly Academy face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Lions comes in having scored 165 this season, while the Eagles have scored 128.
Geoff O'Donnell's team took down Highland Tech 57-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
