Bourne hasn't had much luck against Fairhaven recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Canalmen will welcome the Blue Devils at 3:45 p.m. Bourne has given up an average of 17.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Bourne lost 16-1 to Dighton-Rehoboth Regional on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairhaven). They were the clear victors by a 22-6 margin over Old Rochester Regional on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Brianna Pierce made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Fairhaven got a massive performance out of Juliette Flynn, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Flynn a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elodie Cook, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Fairhaven always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .644. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Old Rochester Regional only posted an OBP of .462.
Fairhaven is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Bourne, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
Bourne might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Fairhaven when the teams last played on April 8th. Will the Canalmen have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
