The Hagerty Huskies just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Lake Brantley Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Hagerty took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Lake Mary 64-62. The victory was some much needed relief for the Huskies as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Asa Kohn continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 10 of 16 en route to 23 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Isaac Lopez, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Lake Brantley's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell to Evans 61-55. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Trojans are ranked 14th).
Hagerty will have to contain Julian Vargas as he made an impact in Lake Brantley's last game. He went 6 of 13 on his way to 18 points. Vargas is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Adam Ndiaye was another key player, putting up nine points.
Lake Brantley's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6. As for Hagerty, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Hagerty has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 27.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Lake Brantley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Hagerty suffered a grim 65-41 defeat to Lake Brantley in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Hagerty, Landen Paquette (who went 11 of 15 on his way to 30 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
