Football Recap: The Villages Charter Piles Up the Points Against Citrus

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask The Villages Charter). They breezed past the Citrus Hurricanes to the tune of 72-0 on Friday. The Buffalo have beaten the Hurricanes the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Hurricanes has come to flipping the script.

Ja'Dence Kennedy was his usual excellent self, throwing for 192 yards and five TDs on perfect 9-for-9 passing, while also catching one score. Devonte Huff made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

The Villages Charter didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Huff and Noah Bennet. Huff got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The Villages Charter's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Citrus, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Villages Charter will face off against Tavares at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Citrus, they will challenge West Port at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
