The South Hills Scorpions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 37-13 defeat at the hands of Polytechnic. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat South Hills has suffered since December 12, 2023.
Among those leading the charge was Sofia Castro, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and six steals. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyra Ray, who scored two points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
South Hills' defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-26. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.3 points per game. As for Polytechnic, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.
South Hills will be playing at home against Trimble Tech at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Trimble Tech is ranked 1464th, while South Hills is ranked 1480th). As for Polytechnic, they will head out on the road to take on Everman at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
