The Westside Wolves lost against the Bellaire Cardinals back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Westside took a 62-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bellaire. While losing is never fun, Westside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 456th, while Bellaire is ranked 69th).
Bellaire got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shelton Henderson out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Henderson has scored at least a third of Bellaire's points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Andrews, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Westside and nudges their season record down to 13-9. As for Bellaire, the victory (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 23-6.
Westside will head out on the road to square off against Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Heights focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Tuesday. As for Bellaire, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Westbury at 6:00 p.m.
