Lamar County is 2-8 against Jackson since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lamar County Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Jackson Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Saturday, Lamar County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 56-52 to Social Circle. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lamar County in their matchups with Social Circle: they've now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Jackson, who are still winless after their fifth match. They were beaten by Starr's Mill 68-36 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Jackson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 447th, while Starr's Mill is ranked 83rd).
Jackson's loss came about despite a quality game from Jaydyn Scott, who scored 8 points.
Lamar County's victory lifted them to 1-1 while Social Circle's defeat dropped them down to 2-3.
Things could have been worse for Lamar County, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 71-57 loss to Jackson when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Lamar County, Travian Mann (who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 10 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
