The Todd County Central Rebels are taking a road trip to take on the Jo Byrns Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Todd County Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Todd County Central barely beat Hopkins County Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rebels were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Storm on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Storm: they've now won nine in a row.
Todd County Central's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Addison Woodall, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Jo Byrns made sure to put some runs up on the board against Portland on Friday. The Red Devils walked away with a 13-9 victory over the Panthers.
Lauren Vaughan made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Hadlee Blocker was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Adelyn Finley was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Jo Byrns hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
The win was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 3-7. As for Todd County Central, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Todd County Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Jo Byrns when the teams last played back in April of 2023, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Rebels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
