5A Intermountain recap Oct. 3, 2012
Redmond extended the longest winning streak in 5A Intermountain this week by beating Summit, 50-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Redmond was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Storm 50-0. Dan Elliott's team came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 32 last week.
Mountain View's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Toby Webb threw for 125 and one touchdown and John Carroll had 102 yards receiving. On the ground Kyler Ayers chipped in 193 yards. Justin Glembocki helped Mountain View's passing attack out by catching one ball for 23 yards.
Nick Hjelm made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Cougars fell to Wilsonville. The 6-foot-3 junior recorded one fumble.
Mountain View's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cougars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Webb has thrown for 1034 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Carroll has 35 catches for 607 yards. Ayers leads the league in rushing with 634 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Summit takes on Bend. Joe Padilla's team is in second place, while the Lava Bears are in fourth place.
