Griffith will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Illiana Christian, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Panthers came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 6-2 on Tuesday.
Camryn Young made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Young was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaida Wheatley, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Elena Rivas also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Kankakee Valley hit Hobart with a four-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Brickies fell just short of the Kougars by a score of 6-4. The Brickies haven't had much luck with the Kougars recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Allie Snider spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, Aurora Ciesielski made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Hobart's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Griffith, their record is now 9-1.
Hobart's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Griffith has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.3 strikeouts per game.
