Basketball Recap: Fostoria Takes a Loss

Fostoria easily dispatched Otsego last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Fostoria Redmen fell just short of the Liberty-Benton Eagles by a score of 35-32 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Redmen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while the Eagles are ranked 204th).

Defeat or not, Fostoria got some senior leadership from Alycia Middlebrooks and Lyrique Johnson. Middlebrooks posted 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Johnson almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last three games she's played.

Fostoria's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Liberty-Benton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Fostoria will finish 2024 at home by hosting Hopewell-Loudon at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Fostoria is facing Hopewell-Loudon at the right time seeing as Hopewell-Loudon is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Liberty-Benton and Pandora-Gilboa will round out the year against one another at at 7:30 p.m. on December 30th.
