Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the South Plantation Paladins, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 59-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars on Monday. South Plantation was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Pembroke Pines Charter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Rivera, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 24 rebounds. Rivera is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Ojeda, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
South Plantation has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
South Plantation does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Pembroke Pines Charter won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Titans at 5:00 p.m. on February 6th. Nova presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Jaguars in Florida (the Titans are ranked 70th, while the Jaguars are ranked 250th).
