Redbank Valley enjoyed a cozy 64-46 win over Union on Thursday. Given Redbank Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Union is ranked 409th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Redbank Valley found their leader in underclassman Braylon Wagner, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wagner has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Owen Clouse, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Union's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Bish, who scored nine points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Fleming, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Redbank Valley's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. As for Union, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7.
Redbank Valley will head out on the road to challenge Clarion Area at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Clarion Area will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Union, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Allegheny-Clarion Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
