After three games on the road, Mountain Empire is heading back home. They will take on the Ocean View Christian Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Mountain Empire focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Thursday.
Mountain Empire scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They blew past School for Entrepreneurship & Technology 69-36 on the road. With Mountain Empire ahead 47-15 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Mountain Empire can attribute much of their success to Andrew Sepulveda, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and five steals, and Corey Vann, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists. Sepulveda has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Maximo Gonzalez, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Ocean View Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 58-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Liberty Charter.
Mountain Empire is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Ocean View Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Mountain Empire was able to grind out a solid victory over Ocean View Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 37-29. Does Mountain Empire have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ocean View Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
