The Ascend Leadership Aviators's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Clover Garden School, falling 63-14. If Ascend Leadership hoped to take revenge for the 54-12 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Clover Garden School found their leader in underclassman Hanna Tickle, who scored 21 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tickle has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Harrelson, who scored 12 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Ascend Leadership dropped their record down to 1-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.7 points per game. As for Clover Garden School, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.
Ascend Leadership will be playing at home against Woods Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Woods Charter is ranked 587th, while Ascend Leadership is ranked 579th). As for Clover Garden School, they will head out on the road to take on Southern Wake Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern Wake Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last 11 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
