The Sale Creek Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Copper Basin Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Sale Creek fell victim to South Pittsburg's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Pirates on the road and fell 44-0. Sale Creek's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 58-26, which was the final score in Copper Basin's tilt against Carolina W on Friday. While losing is never fun, Copper Basin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 322nd in Tennessee, while Carolina W is ranked 13th in South Carolina).
The losses dropped Sale Creek to 6-3 and Copper Basin to 3-5.
Everything came up roses for Sale Creek against Copper Basin in their previous matchup back in September of 2022 as the team secured a 42-8 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sale Creek since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
