The McEachern Indians had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They had just enough and edged Marietta out 17-14. That's two games straight that McEachern has won by exactly three points.
McEachern found their leader in underclassman Jayreon Campbell, who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.2 yards per carry.
Marietta's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaylen Frazier, who gained 100 total yards and a touchdown, and Russell Bey who gained 106 total yards and a touchdown.
McEachern's win on Friday bumped their record up to 4-4. Marietta has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McEachern will challenge North Paulding at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (North Paulding is ranked 36th, while McEachern is ranked 45th). The Blue Devils will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Harrison at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th.
