The Cook Hornets entered their tilt with the Worth County Rams with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Cook narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Worth County 31-28. Given Cook's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Worth County is ranked 242nd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Drew Folsom was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 308 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes. Cook also got help from Jacarre Johnson who showed off his sure hands for 104 receiving yards.
Another reason for the win was Cook's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Jaiden Knight and his two sacks.
Worth County's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being D'ontae Fulton, who picked up 235 receiving yards and a touchdown. Javen Jackson also helped out as he racked up 115 receiving yards.
Cook's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.3 points per game. As for Worth County, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cook will square off against Washington County at 7:30 p.m. on November 11th. Washington County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Cook likes a good challenge. As for Worth County, they will head out on the road to face off against Laney at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Laney is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
