It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 58-24, which was the final score in Schoharie's tilt against Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Mekeel Christian Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points), and they went ahead and made it three last Friday. They strolled past Middleburgh with points to spare, taking the game 56-42. Given Mekeel Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Middleburgh is ranked 307th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Schoharie's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Mekeel Christian Academy, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-0.
Schoharie was dealt a bruising 98-28 defeat at the hands of Mekeel Christian Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2020. Can Schoharie avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
