The Middle Township Panthers extended their postseason success on Wednesday against the Manchester Township Hawks. They walked away with a 61-51 victory over the Hawks. Winning may never get old, but Middle Township sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Middle Township found their leader in underclassman Reagen Powell, who almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Powell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Abbey Cappelletti, who scored six points.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zionna Short, who scored 16 points along with two steals. It was the first time this season that Short scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Devyn Quigley, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Even though they lost, Manchester Township were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. This was only their second loss (out of eight games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Middle Township has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. As for Manchester Township, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-8.
Middle Township will take on Cinnaminson on Friday. Cinnaminson is coming into the matchup with three straight wins on the road, so Middle Township will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Manchester Township does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
