Basketball Recap: St. David's Comes Up Short

St. David lost against GRACE Christian back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The St. David's Warriors took a 47-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the GRACE Christian Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while the Eagles are ranked 151st).

Loss or not, St. David's got some senior leadership from Kazim Oladipo and Cooper Berkoff. Oladipo posted 15 points and five rebounds, while Berkoff put up 12 points. What's more, Oladipo also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.

Michael Phillips II was his usual excellent self, going 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points and five boards for GRACE Christian. Another player making a difference was A.J. Gladieux, who had six points and six assists.

St. David's has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for GRACE Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-13.

St. David's will host Grace Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Grace Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 72.1 points per game this season. As for GRACE Christian, they will head out to challenge Trinity Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Trinity Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully GRACE Christian likes a good challenge.
