Lockhart is 1-0 against Bastrop since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lockhart Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bastrop Bears at 7:00 p.m. Lockhart has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 270 points over their last seven matches.
Lockhart pushed their score all the way to 41 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The match between Lockhart and Liberty Hill wasn't particularly close, with Lockhart falling 56-41. While losing is never fun, Lockhart can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 716th, while Liberty Hill is ranked 321st).
Meanwhile, after soaring to 34 points the game before, Bastrop were a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Veterans Memorial, falling 55-8.
The losses dropped Lockhart to 2-5 and Bastrop to 5-3.
Lockhart didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Bastrop in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, but they still walked away with a 35-31 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Bastrop's Demire Thompson, who rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Lockhart to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
