Given Desert Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Benson is ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Desert Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adam Valvala, who scored 14 points along with seven assists and three steals. Valvala hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Bennett Vondrak was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Desert Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Benson, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Christian will face off against San Manuel at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. San Manuel and Desert Christian are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Benson, they will head out on the road to face off against Santa Rita at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Rita is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
