Baseball Recap: Gardner-South Wilmington Find Success

Gardner-South Wilmington's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Lexington Minutemen. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 victory the Minutemen walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

The team relied heavily on Cameron Gray, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Hampson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gardner-South Wilmington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lexington only managed three hits.

Gardner-South Wilmington's record is now 7-11. As for Lexington, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-9.

Coming up, Gardner-South Wilmington will challenge St. Anne at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers are facing the Cardinals at the right time seeing as the Cardinals are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Lexington, they will face off against Fieldcrest at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
