After a string of three wins, the Palo Verde Titans's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell to Thatcher 57-52. The contest was a 26-26 toss-up at halftime, but Palo Verde couldn't quite close it out.
Adrain Powers and Daniel Ortiz certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Powers scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Ortiz scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Powers has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Kameron Pippen was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Christian Carter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Thatcher, scoring 26 points along with six assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carter has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Palmer, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Palo Verde's defeat dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Thatcher, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6.
Palo Verde will take on Tanque Verde at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Averaging 58.9 points so far this season, Tanque Verde's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Palo Verde better be ready for a challenge. As for Thatcher, they will head out on the road to face off against Empire at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Thatcher focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
