It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Mount Miguel Matadors can now relate to. They were dealt a 52-21 loss at the hands of the Monsoons on Saturday. Mount Miguel's loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Several Matadors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matthew Barton, who rushed for 98 yards on only 11 carries, and also threw for 199 yards and a touchdown. Parris Vernon was in the mix as well, providing Mount Miguel with two touchdowns.
Mount Miguel's loss dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Mayfair, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Mount Miguel does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mayfair will take on Marin Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Marin Catholic's defense has only allowed 7.6 points per game this season, so Mayfair's offense will have their work cut out for Mayfair.
