The Boyd Yellowjackets will take on the Paradise Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Paradise will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Boyd extended their winning streak to 16 on Thursday. Everything went the Yellowjackets' way against Ponder as they made off with a 10-1 victory.
Abby Atkinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 19 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Boyd let Jaydan Gurule and Savannah Davis run wild. Gurule went 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple, while Davis went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Davis has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinley Middleton, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Boyd kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Paradise took on Pilot Point on Friday. The Panthers blew past the Bearcats 8-1. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now won five in a row.
Brooke Limbaugh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Celeste Mast, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season.
Paradise's victory bumped their record up to 17-2-1. As for Boyd, their win bumped their record up to 21-2.
Paradise's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Boyd has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Paradise, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Boyd keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
Boyd beat Paradise 4-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
